Step 1 – Prep Work

Before you really get stuck into email marketing, you need to be clear about who your target audience is and how you help them. Otherwise, we’ll just be sending out stuff that people don’t want.

In this module, I’ll take you through simple target market exercises – no surveys required (unless you want to).

We’ll also look at list building principles and set (realistic) subscriber goals. 

Step 2 – Your Opt In Incentive

Your Email Opt-In Incentive is at the heart of your email strategy – and your marketing strategy as a whole. But it is one place I see small business owners get stuck time and time again. I aim to make it not only easy, but also, dare I say it, fun!?

In this module you will:

  • Discover over 20 simple and effective opt-in incentive ideas
  • Go beyond the PDF with options such as Email Courses, Quizzes, Challenges, Videos, and Webinars
  • Choose your perfect opt-in incentive using the Lead Magnet Generator and my 3-point criteria

At the end of this module, you will have created your new opt-in incentive and be ready to sing about it from the rooftops.

Step 3 – Setup the Tech

Your email provider can be your business’s best sales person if set up right, but the technology can get confusing and overwhelming.

In this hands-on module you will:

  • Understand how all those tech pieces fit together, what you need to setup, and in what order you need to do it
  • Learn about the different features email providers offer and choose the right one for your business
  • Get a look inside MailChimp, ActiveCampaign and ConvertKit
  • Understand the legal requirements that you need to fulfil under GDPR and other regulations (and how to get your email system to comply)

By the end of this module you will have created your lists, forms and set up automatic delivery of your opt-in incentive.

Step 4 – Get the Signup

When it’s time to pull it all together and connect your email provider to your website or a 3rd party landing page you want to do it in a way that makes your subscriber thrilled and your blood pressure low.

In this module you will:

  • Nail your opt-in sales pitch (because you still need to sell it, even if it’s free)
  • Explore the types of sign up forms and decide what works best for your website
  • Understand how to connect your email forms to your website using a variety of options

By the end of this module you will have created your high converting Lead Page. (And never have to wonder “what the heck is a Lead Page?” ever again.)

Step 5 – Welcome

Once you have a new subscriber, it is only the beginning of their journey with you. There are many ways in which we can nurture the relationship to bring them closer to a sale.

In this module you will:

  • Look at your customer’s journey and the key messages you need to get across at each stage

  • Learn about the 8 different emails you might want to include in your welcome automation to get you those first sales

  • Learn how to deliver email courses and challenges with ease

By the end of this module, you will be welcoming your new subscribers in a way that makes them feel like a valued part of your community – all on autopilot.

Step 6 – Promote

Now you have your opt-in created and all the tech and automation setup, it’s time to spread the word about your amazing offer!

In this module you will:

  • Understand the 3 different types of audiences you will be marketing to and what to promote to each
  • Choose the right mix of promotional tools for your business using my recommended formula
  • Learn about how to effectively promote on social media (without being sales-y)
  • Understand content marketing and develop a content strategy to direct even more traffic to your opt-in

By the end of this module you will have selected your ideal marketing mix of promotional tactics – ending the confusion and shiny object syndrome.

Step 7 – Continued Connection

Your email list is your biggest asset, so you want to keep your subscribers feeling loved, valued and ready to buy.

In this module, you will:

  • Know what to include in your emails (and what not to) to avoid those spam filters and get your emails opened
  • Brainstorm ideas for what to send your list so you are never stuck again
  • Learn the fundamentals of email design and create your own templates.

By the end of this module, you will be confident in sending those regular email updates.

Step 8 – List Performance

Connected email marketing goes way beyond the basics of sending valuable content, and even beyond your welcome sequence. Instead, it involves creating personalised experiences to ensure you are only delivery your emails to those who are most interested.

In this module, you will:

  • Learn how to create segments and tags to your list based on interests and actions
  • Create additional automations such as post-purchase, abandoned cart and date based
  • Learn how to maintain a clean list

By the end of this module you will be excited about the seemingly endless possibilities about how you can personalise your email experience – without the 1 on 1 effort.

Hi, I’m Yael Keon, online marketing strategist, consultant, and creator of this program.

I have over 15 years marketing experience in both corporate and small business environments. From multi-national organisations to starting my very own consultancy.
